Sweet Popcorn - Different methods of preparing this dessert

Sweet popcorn is very traditional in any culture. It is a food rich in fiber and low in calories (in this case with sugar it can be a little high). But it makes an excellent dessert. Easy to make and very cheap compared to other treats (industrialized or not). There are a few different methods of preparing sweet popcorn. Let's put some of them.

Method of preparation

Before we dive straight into the recipe, I should say that there are basically two methods of preparation. The first is for you, while the popcorn is exploding, tossing in the sugar and stirring it with a wooden spoon. Some recipes take other ingredients like powdered milk for example. The second, and what I like the most, is putting everything together in the pot. That is, I put the oil, sugar to taste and popcorn corn. The idea is to keep these ingredients always with the popcorn machine in motion so as not to let it burn. Maintaining movement also helps, making the popcorn more loose instead of sticking together.
This way the ingredients are more united, unlike the first method. Well, let's go to the first recipe!

First sweet popcorn recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of corn for popcorn;
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar;
  • 4 tablespoons of water;
  • 3 tablespoons of oil.

Preparation Method

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a pan with a thick bottom;
  2. Cover the lid and place over medium heat, stirring the pan constantly (use heat protection gloves) until all the corn pops;
  3. As soon as the popping stops, immediately remove the popcorn from the pan so it doesn't burn and place it on the serving dish.

Second recipe

The first ingredients are kept by removing the water. At the end you can sprinkle some condensed milk on top. You can also choose to sprinkle powdered milk on top instead of condensed milk.

Make the popcorn crispy

After popping, do not leave the sweet popcorn inside the pan for a long time so that it does not become withered. Keeping the popcorn crunchy will make it much tastier when it's time to eat!

Notes

This is definitely not a dessert for dieters. Sweet popcorn has a lot of sugar and if you add condensed milk it gets even more caloric. But to a small extent you won't have any problems. This dessert is not industrialized. Maybe it's better than many solutions that take many industrialized products that we don't even know about. A warning to make it a little healthier is to add raw sugar as it is less processed and has more natural elements than refined sugar, which is highly processed.
